Music, dance, community, and dancing our prayers, helps us to empty out …. shaking our bodies from the inside out, and stirring the inner landscape makes room for new energies to come through, to inform us and bring new creations through us. Let’s do it, let’s shake it up with beloved Malahakam… channeling the sonic frequency of ecstasy and bliss, sound and silence, motion and stillness….. it’s in us and she can spark the pulse… beat to beat, and wave to wave, soul to soul.

From the quivering gazelle after a chase… to the trembling Quakers in spiritual rapture… to the ecstatic ritual dances of African, Sufi, Amazonian, and Polynesian lineages…shaking has always been a way to discharge, transmute, and reset the nervous system. Long before Western science caught up, indigenous traditions knew that shaking was not pathology, but rather wisdom embodied.
Today, somatic psychology confirms it: shaking helps regulate the autonomic nervous system, completing cycles of stress and trauma. It restores vitality. It returns us to presence. It frees the flow of life force.
In our Sanctuary of Rhythm , we remember this. We practice this.
We gather not only to dance, but to shake loose the old shed the old stories, to move what was never ours to hold, together. In rhythm. In ritual. In joy. In the grace of what’s real and alive. .

When dancing, we focus on sensations, breath, and movement, bringing our full attention to the present moment.
INTUITIVE EXPRESSION – Freeform or ecstatic dance allows us to bypass the thinking mind and move in a way that feels natural, unlocking creativity and self-discovery.
EMOTIONAL RELEASE – Movement helps process emotions that may be stuck, allowing us to clear energy and feel more aligned with our true self.
RHYTHMIC CONNECTION – Dancing to rhythms and music creates a deep sense of harmony, connecting us to the pulse of life itself.
SACRED RITUAL – At Rhythm Sanctuary we are one of the many who use dance as a way to access spiritually ecstatic sober states, celebrate existence, commune with the divine, and honor the mystery of being
